Paul Smith's College is seeking a Public Services Librarian. The Public Services Librarian will champion information literacy improvements on campus through a combination of creativity and data- driven decisions. We are looking for someone to lead a small team of librarians in providing bibliographic instruction and outreach and to be responsible for developing effective strategies for enhancing and assessing our reference services. This position requires project planning skills as well as the ability to work independently. Reports to Director of Library Services.
Duties & Responsibilities - Supervise all aspects of circulation, including policies, assessment and report writing.
- Coordinate Information Literacy Instruction including scheduling, teaching and assessment.
- Develop structure and content for some library web pages, including course-specific resource pages, and a library news feed.
- Manage library social media presence.
- Implement our pilot faculty-liaison programming.
- Create educationally and institutionally relevant programs and events.
- Identify ways to improve the user experience.

Requirements - MLS degree from an ALA accredited library school, must be awarded by May, 2012; academic library and/or Post- secondary teaching experience preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft office suite, web editing software, experience using Sirsi ILS software, and image editing software such as Photoshop preferred.
- Ability to integrate electronic information into all aspects of reference and library instruction services and have a strong familiarity with academic resources.
- Interest in working with patrons in one-on-one and group situations.
- Strong personal service philosophy and solid interpersonal and communication skills.
- Desire to share the varied workload of a small college in a team atmosphere.

Part-time Librarian at the Saranac Lake Campus (Adjunct Faculty Position) of North Country Community College.
Job Summary - The part-time librarian will provide library reference and other professional library services during a regular 10 hour per week schedule of afternoon and evening hours, but may be required to occasionally adjust these hours. Reports to the Director of Library Services

Penfield Library at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a six-month temporary Librarian position. They are seeking an energetic, knowledgeable, service-oriented librarian to provide reference assistance, instruct classes in information literacy skills, and help to promote students’ ability to succeed in a multicultural and global community.
Responsibilities - Provide reference service 10-12 hours per week, including chat and text reference. Teach information literacy classes for subject specialized and general instruction. Library Director - SUNY Oswego seeks an innovative, highly-motivated and visionary leader to serve as Library Director who is committed to extending the successful programs and services of the library to meet the changing needs of the 21st Century student. The ideal candidate will support Penfield Library’s continuing collaborations with other college constituents to further its mission as a partner in the teaching and learning process. Responsible for the purchase and receipt of all library materials, serials management and coordination of linking of digital resources. Evening Librarian - Penfield Library of the State University of New York at Oswego seeks an innovative, proactive, service-oriented librarian to fill an exciting new position of First-Year Experience/Evening Librarian.
Responsibilities - The librarian in this position will serve as Penfield Library's liaison to SUNY Oswego's special courses and programs for first-year students, and lead library participation in college recruitment and orientation events. Responsibilities include collaboration with the faculty and staff leading first- year programs; service on the instruction team; and design, promotion, implementation and assessment of instruction and outreach programs for first-year students. This new position includes working with freshman across many disciplines in programs such as our FirstChoice programs and Living/Learning Communities, and with high school students visiting the Library and campus admissions events. In addition this librarian will participate in the reference service rotation, including virtual reference, and will be responsible for collection development and instruction for assigned subject liaison areas. This is a 12-month, tenure-track position with faculty status at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian. It is an evening position with regular hours from 12:30 to 9 p.m., and rotating weekend shifts. The position reports to the Coordinator of Instruction and also works closely with the Library's Reference and Collection Development Coordinators.
Required Qualifications - An MLS from an ALA-accredited institution; experience working in an academic library; teaching experience in a classroom setting; experience working with first-year college students or programs; ability to use current reference and teaching technologies, and to adapt quickly in a rapidly changing technological environment; working knowledge of multidisciplinary research resources, including electronic databases; excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues; strong customer service orientation; experience working with multicultural populations; and availability to work from 12:30 to 9PM Monday- Thursday (Friday daytime hours).
