Library Legislative Day 2008 Is Set
Librarians, trustees, friends and users of libraries will gather in Albany on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 to
meet with legislative leaders to talk about library-related issues.
This day serves as the perfect opportunity to tell elected officials how vital libraries are to each
community they represent. It is also a day to inform these leaders as to the importance of having the state
increase its support for libraries this year.
Meetings are scheduled as follows (Please Note Assemblywoman Dupry's time change,
and Senator Aubertine's room change):
10:00 am - Senator Elizabeth Little in 903 LOB
10:30 am - Senator Joseph Griffo in 944 LOB
1:00 pm - Senator Darrel Aubertine in 608 LOB
1:30 pm - Assemblyman William Barclay in 546 LOB
1:30 pm - Assemblywoman Janet Dupry in 937 LOB
2:00 pm - Assemblywoman Teresa Sayward in 940 LOB
2:30 pm - Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava in 329 LOB
NYLA has scheduled the following events for the day:
Legislative Breakfast: 8:00-9:30 a.m. A complimentary breakfast buffet will be held for legislators and
staff, librarians, trustees, and friends and users of libraries in Meeting Room 6, Concourse Level of the
Empire State Plaza. READ photographs will also be taken of legislators.
Rally and Speeches: 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Library advocates will rally in Meeting Room 6 to voice their
support for library funding and provide a visual demonstration of the strength of the library community to
legislators and their staff. Various speakers are scheduled.
Lobby Day advocacy materials will be distributed to attendees to use in their meetings with legislators
and staff members. One packet of Legislative Advocacy materials per legislator will be available for pick-
up in Meeting Room 6.
