Nominations Sought For 2008 Award For Excellence

The Northern New York Library Network is officially accepting nominations for the NNYLN’s 2008 Award for Excellence in Library Service.

Library staff members and supervisors are encouraged to nominate someone in their institution for this annual award. A nomination form is conveniently located on-line at mail.nnyln.org/exaward.html

Any staff member of any library within the Northern New York Library Network's service area is eligible to receive the award.

This year’s award will be given during the Network's Annual Meeting to be held May 22, 2008 in Alexandria Bay.

The Network encourages nominations of someone fellow colleagues or supervisors feel should be recognized for his/her outstanding service to libraries. Nominations may be made by directors / supervisors, co-workers, or board members.

Confidential nominations may be made to the Network via U.S. mail at 6721 US HWY 11, Potsdam, NY 13676; or by using the on-line form.

Obituary Notice

Word has been received that Sister Mary Joseph Meichelbeck, 93, Sisters of St. Joseph, died January 17, 2008 in Watertown.

Sister Mary Joseph was library director of Mater Dei College's Augsbury Memorial Library, Ogdensburg, for 29 years, and then was a part-time assistant librarian for three years, retiring June 30, 1992. She was a founding member of the North Country Reference and Research Resources Council and served as a trustee for two terms. In 1990 she received the NYLA Award for Outstanding Service in Librarianship in an academic library.
