College Of DuPage Teleconferences Offered

The New York State Library has arranged a state-wide license for teleconferences from the College of DuPage.

February 8 , 2008 -- Soaring to Excellence 2008 -- People Watching With a Purpose: Meeting Needs Before They Need It

March 7, 2008 -- Library Challenges and Opportunities 2008 -- Library Spaces: Future Needs

April 11 , 2008 -- Soaring to Excellence 2008 -- Trends, Fads or Folly: Spotting the Library Trends That Really Matter

May 9, 2008 (tentative date) -- Library Challenges and Opportunities 2008 -- Library Challenges and Opportunities... Into the Future

All libraries in New York are eligible, and all teleconferences run from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. eastern time. In order to receive the teleconference webcast, participants need a good Internet connection. Dial-up will not be sufficient.

Monday, November 5 - "Surveys 101" will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the NNYLN in Potsdam. The cost is $15.00 for library staff, and $59.95 for all others. Lunch is included.

Thursday, November 8 - The NNYLN Library Assistants Fall Conference will begin with registration from 9-9:30 a.m. at the NNYLN in Potsdam. The fee is $15.00, and is limited to library staff. Lunch will be included.

Thursday, November 8 - A meeting of the North Country Digitization Interest Group will held at 10:30 a.m. at the NNYLN in Potsdam. All staff interested in converting materials to digital formats are encouraged to attend. The focus of this meeting will be digitizing local Civil War records.

Wednesday, November 14 - The DHP "Grant Information Session" class will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the NNYLN in Potsdam. There is no fee to attend.

Friday, November 16 - "Introduction to Second Life" will be held from 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the NNYLN in Potsdam. The fee is $10.00 for library staff, and $29.95 for all others.

Thursday & Friday, November 22 & 23 - The NNY Library Network will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Thursday, November 29 - There will be a meeting of the NNY Library Network’s Board of Trustees at 10:00 a.m. at the Network’s office.
