Four New ILLiad Participants
Four more libraries are using the ILLiad resource sharing service courtesy of the NNYLN. Earlier this
year, the Network applied for and received LSTA funds to make ILLiad available to the Interlibrary Loan
Departments at Clarkson University, SUNY Canton, Jefferson Community College, and Clinton Community
College. This is the third wave of ILLiad placements to academic libraries by the Network.
ILLiad Resource Sharing Management Software helps automate routine interlibrary loan functions.
Interlibrary loan staff can manage all borrowing, lending, and document delivery through a single Windows-
based interface, and library users can submit and track their own requests via the Web. ILLiad saves staff
time by consolidating all interlibrary loan functions under a single, customizable interface. ILLiad automates
the processing of interlibrary loan requests, compiles lending and borrowing statistics, provides financial
tracking for lending and borrowing, and delivers articles and other documents electronically.
Other academic libraries in the region already using ILLiad are SUNY Potsdam, SUNY Plattsburgh, SUNY
Oswego, and St. Lawrence University. Previously, grant funds paid for all first year costs of using ILLiad
for all four colleges. Clarkson University received funds to purchase a dedicated server for running ILLiad
software, as well as a first year subscription to ILLiad service. Canton College, Clinton Community College
and Jefferson Community College all chose a remote server option. First year costs for server use and for
ILLiad licensing have been paid through the grant, and all four libraries have agreed to pay ongoing costs in
future years.
ILLiad was installed at all four colleges over the summer, and on-site training, also covered by grant
funds, was conducted for each campus.
