Archives Month 2007

Any library, museum or repository planning on taking part in Archives Month: October 2007 is reminded of the deadline for publicity inclusion that has been established.

Institutions that would like to be included in the press releases issued by the NNY Library Network need to return their information to the Network by September 10, 2007.

All submissions received by that date will also be forwarded on to the NYS Archives for inclusion on its website.

Archives Month activities may include an open house, class visit, lecture, slide and/or tape presentation, workshop, walking tour, display(s), photo exhibit, reception, or an essay contest.

WilsonWeb Full Text Database

Among the database products bought by the Northern New York Library Network for all libraries in the region, is the Wilson Omnifile Full Text Select database.

This database contains over 1,000 select English-language periodicals published in the United States and elsewhere. Full text is provided for all periodicals (with accompanying indexing and abstracting). Publications indexed include the leading popular and general-interest magazines; professional, research and scholarly journals; trade and industry magazines; literary and political reviews; and little magazines. Detailed abstracts describe the content and scope of the source articles.

Access to the Omnifile database is free to any library in the region. Access is available either by IP or password. Libraries not presently using the database, and would like information on how to do so, are asked to email: Bridget Doyle.
