Professional Development Recipients Of 2006

Since the beginning of the year, the NNYLN has approved the following Professional Development applications:

• Rose Hare of Jefferson Community College received funding to attend Powerful Team-Building, Mentoring and Coaching Skills for Managers and Supervisors in January.

• Kathie LaBombard of CEF Library System received funding to attend the Public Library Association’s 11th National Conference in March.

• Julie Weaver of CEF Library System received funding to attend the Public Library Association’s 11th National Conference in March.

• Tracey LaBarge of CEF Library System received funding to attend the NYS Library Assistants Association meeting in June.

• Colleen Pelletier of Plattsburgh Public Library will receive funding for attendance at the New England Library Association Annual Conference in October.

• Elaine Dunn-Thayer of Massena Public Library will receive funding for attendance at the NYLA Leadership and Management Academy.

Monday, Nov. 6 - "Basics of Archives" will be held at the Best Western Mountain Lake Inn in Saranac Lake. Sign-in and coffee will be from 8:45-9:00 a.m., and class time will be 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. There is no fee to attend, and lunch is on your own.

Tuesday, Nov. 7 - There will be a Docutek Users Group meeting at 10:30 a.m. at the Network office.

Thursday, Nov. 9 - The Library Assistant’s Fall Conference will be on "Exploring Leadership" and "Personal Safety." It will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. in the Campus Center at SUNY Canton. The fee is $15.00 for library staff, and lunch is included. A meeting of the Library Assistants Committee will meet at the NNYLN in Potsdam following the conference.

Friday, Nov. 10 - "Microsoft Excel for Beginners" will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the NNYLN in Potsdam. The fee is $15.00 for library staff and $59.95 for all others. Lunch is included.

Thursday, Nov. 16 - "Microsoft Excel for Beginners" will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the CEFLS in Plattsburgh. The fee is $15.00 for library staff and $59.95 for all others. Lunch is included.

Thursday, Nov. 16 - There will be an ILLiad Users Group Meeting at 10:30 a.m. at the Network office.

Thursday & Friday, Nov. 23 & 24 - The NNY Library Network office will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
