Annual Meeting Comes To Potsdam

The Northern New York Library Network’s 41st Annual Meeting will be held in a new location this year. The Network is hopeful this central meeting place will make it more convenient for librarians, library staff and library board members to attend.

The event will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2006 at the Cheel Campus Center, Clarkson University, Potsdam. The day’s agenda will be:

  • 9:30 a.m. - Registration and refreshments
  • 10:00 a.m. - Three roundtable sessions/discussion groups. They will include:
      * Protecting your public access computer stations.
      * Blog: What is it? Why should you care? How is it used?
      * Wireless Internet access in the library
  • 10:00 a.m. - Board of Trustees meeting
  • 11:30 a.m. - Annual Meeting, announcements, door prizes
  • 12:00 p.m. - Luncheon, with Guest Speaker Steven Horwitz of St. Lawrence University, whose discussion will be on "Privacy in an Increasingly Public World."

    The day will also include the announcement of the recipient of the 16th Annual Award for Excellence in Library Service.

    The deadline for registration for the Annual Meeting is Friday, May 19, 2006. So if you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to do so today! There is a $15.00 registration fee, which includes a buffet luncheon.
