Make A Nomination Today

Time is drawing short for the acceptance of nominations for the NNYLN’s Award for Excellence in Library Service.

Library staff members and supervisors are encouraged to nominate someone in their institution for this annual award.

A nomination form is now conveniently located on-line at mail.nnyln.org/exaward.html

Any staff member of any library within the Northern New York Library Network's service area is eligible to receive the Award.

This year’s award will be given during the Network's Annual Meeting to be held May 25, 2006 at the Cheel Center, Clarkson University, Potsdam.

The Network encourages nominations of someone fellow colleagues or supervisors feel should be recognized for his/her outstanding service to libraries. Nominations may be made by directors/supervisors, co-workers, or board members.

Confidential nominations may be made to the Network via U.S. mail at 6721 US HWY 11, Potsdam, NY 13676; or by using the new on-line form. Nominations must be received by April 24, 2006.

Membership Directory

A letter requesting updated staffing and collection information for all NNY Library Network members will be distributed later this month.

The 2006-2007 NNYLN Membership Directory will be going to the printers in May.

The Network is asking that all members reply to this notice, even if no changes need to be made.

It is valuable to all who use the Directory to have complete names, titles, phone numbers and extensions, and emails for the staff in member institutions.

Database Informations

A brochure outlining the range of databases available to North Country libraries through the NNYLN and the NY State Library is included in this newsletter.

Library users and staff members alike are reminded of the useful information provided through the following databases:

* Wilson Omnifile Full Text

* Northern New York Newspapers
* Northern New York Historical Newspapers
* NOVEL Databases

More brochures are available. Contact the Network office.
