Make Excellence Award Nomination On-line

A nomination form for the NNYLN’s annual Award for Excellence in Library Service is now conveniently located on-line. It may be found at mail.nnyln.org/exaward.html

Any staff member of any library within the Northern New York Library Network's service area is eligible to receive the Award for Excellence in Library Service. This year’s award will be given during the Network's Annual Meeting to be held May 25, 2006.

The Network encourages nominations of someone fellow colleagues or supervisors feel should be recognized for his/her outstanding service to libraries. Nominations may be made by directors / supervisors, co-workers, or board members.

To nominate a candidate for this award, you need only write a confidential letter outlining the reasons your nominee should be considered. Letters of nomination will be held in the strictest of confidence.

Letters of nomination should describe how the nominee's activities have contributed to the following:

  • Open access to information for all.
  • The encouragement of reading and creation of inducements to greater use of library materials.
  • The enhancement and expansion of library service to the community.
  • The strengthening of the library's role and position in the community, whether that community is a town, a school, college or university, or a company, corporation or institution.
  • Promotion of interlibrary cooperation and sharing.

Names of nominees who were submitted in the past and were not selected are encouraged to be submitted again. Nominations made by more than one person on an individual's behalf are encouraged but not required.

Confidential nominations may be made via U.S. mail, or by using the new on-line form. They must be accepted by April 24, 2006.
