Historical Newspapers Continue To Help Users

The Northern New York Historical Newspapers website continues to be a huge success, and new editions have been added.

One user of the site had the following to say about his experience:

"I wanted to add my name to the list of people praising the addition of online historical newspapers to the NNYLN web site. As a Lewis County native, the 40 years of the Lowville Journal & Republican have been a great help in genealogical research of my family and insight into Lewis County as it was at the turn of the century. I have uncovered many important articles about family members, including wedding announcements and anniversaries, births, deaths, and more. I have also helped confirm the death dates for several great-great aunts and uncles. Thanks again for rekindling some fond memories of people long since dead and forgotten," Michael C.

Issues of the Sarnac Lake Adirondack Daily Enterprise newspaper from 1948-1976, and a 100 year run of issues of the Fort Covington Sun newspaper from 1887 to 1987, were added to the site over the summer.

These two newspapers join the Adirondack Record-Elizabethtown Post, Akwesasne Indian Time, Canton Commercial Advertiser, Elizabethtown Post, Fulton Patriot, Lowville Journal & Republican, Malone Farmer, Malone Franklin Gazette, Plattsburgh Republican, Potsdam Herald- Recorder, Potsdam St. Lawrence Herald, Saranac Lake Adirondack Daily Enterprise and the Ticonderoga Sentinel.
