Fall Workshops Are ScheduledThe NNY Library Network’s Summer/Fall 2005 Continuing Education booklet was recently mailed out, and member institutions are sure to find a number of interesting and exciting classes listed. A few of the highlights for the fall line-up include: In September: "Super Searching" will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at the Network office in Potsdam. The fee is $10.00 for library staff and $29.95 for all others. This hands-on course will focus on the advanced search features of web search engines and the cutting edge of searching. In October: "ebay" parts I and II, will be held Oct. 7 & 20, respectively. The Friday, Oct. 7 class will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., and the Thursday, Oct. 20 class will be held from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Both classes are at the Network office, and the fee is $15.00 for library staff and $59.95 for all others. Lunch is included. During these classes, participants will learn how to set up ebay accounts and get items listed that repositories no longer need or have a use for - and make a few dollars at the same time. In November: "Digital Newsletters" will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7 at the Network office in Potsdam. The fee is $15.00 for library staff and $59.95 for all others. Lunch is included. During this class, participants will learn to create and distribute digital newsletters that will improve communication with users and highlight organizational accomplishments.
