Regan DeFranza Receives Excellence Award
Regan DeFranza is the recipient of the 2005 Annual Awared for Excllence. She is pictured with Board President Mary Beth Bell and NNYLN Director John Hammond. The winner of the Network’s 15th Annual Award for Excellence in Library Service is described as having a "volcano of ideas." Regan DeFranza of the North Country Library System received the award during the Northern New York Library Network’s 40th Annual Meeting held May 26, 2005 in Alexandria Bay. One letter of nomination for Ms. DeFranza stated, "In the pursuit of excellence, it is rare to find a person whose accomplishments far surpass even your most ambitious dreams." "Anyone who has worked with Regan is impressed with her professionalism and concern for libraries, the requirements of their positions in the community and the needs of their patrons," another letter reported. Another letter of nomination said, "It is very evident that Regan loves the field of children’s literature and is a true believer in providing the best children’s library service possible." "Regan also encourages member libraries to showcase their talents and successes at the local level," a letter said. "Regan is creative and innovative in her approach, always on the cutting edge and looking for interesting new projects to delight children, teens and their parents," a nomination commented.
