MLS Scholarships Awarded
The NNYLN, working in conjunction with the New York State Library and the Institute of Museum and Library Services, has chosen two library staff as recipients of library school scholarships as part of the State Library’s Making It REAL! Recruitment, Education, and Learning: Creating a New Generation of Librarians to Serve All New Yorkers grants program. Cassandra Pershyn has received a scholarship to attend the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University. Cassandra is currently the Malone Branch library supervisor at North Country Community College. She is particularly interested in digital studies and plans to earn a certificate in advanced studies in digital libraries along with her degree. Judith Warren will be attending Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Judith is currently a Library Assistant at Potsdam Public Library. Judith plans to focus on rural and small libraries as the focus of her graduate studies. Both Cassandra and Judith plan to continue working full-time while pursuing their MLS degrees; each plans to make extensive use of the distance learning facilities offered by Syracuse and Clarion. |
