Jane Subramanian of SUNY Potsdam has been selected as the ENY/ACRL Librarian of the Year for 2004. Jane has a long history with the Chapter, serving as Membership Chair and on the Nominating Committee for many years.

Inger Curth has been selected as the new Director of the Melvil Dewey Library at Jefferson Community College in Watertown.

The North Country Library System has hired Amy Degnan as a consultant. Amy is a graduate of the University at Buffalo’s School of Informatics, has moved to the area from Elmira, where she worked at Steele Memorial Library.

New York Archives Conference

"Images, Sounds, Spirit & Water: Playing to Upstate Strengths" will be a three-day New York Archives Conference held June 16-18, 2004 at St. John Fisher College, Rochester.

Programs included throughout the three days will include Will I Be Sued? Copyright Law & Archival Responsibilities, Preservation & Management of Digital Images, Treasures of Religious Archives & Researchers, Archival Description in the Digital Age, Creating New York’s Historic Trail, and Accessing & Using Music Archives. Discussions on more topics, along with an annual meeting and tours will be also be part of the conference.

The conference registration fee is $35.00, with possible other charges for different portions of the event.
