Don’t Miss The Annual MeetingThe 39th Annual Meeting of the Northern New York Library Network will begin at 9:30 a.m. on May 27, 2004 at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Resort in Lake Placid. This year’s program will include a meeting of the Board of Trustees, the announcement of the recipient of the 14th Annual Award for Excellence in Library Service, and a stimulating schedule of discussion group topics. The luncheon speaker will be former librarian Nora Rawlinson, editor-in-chief of Publishers Weekly. During her tenure, Ms. Rawlinson has refocused the magazine towards more coverage of the book market and the business of publishing, increased the coverage of technology, and helped to launch the first web site for the publishing business. Under her direction, the magazine has launched two additional electronic newsletters and a streaming audio show on the web. The Annual Meeting will include opportunities for people with common interests to gather for discussion of issues relating to providing library services. This year’s three discussion themes span a variety of library issues. Windows XP - How is it different? Should you upgrade? What are the pros and cons? The discussion facilitator will be James Crowley, Crowley Computers. Communications Skills - Conflict management: how to best deal with conflict in the work setting. The discussion facilitator will be Tedra Cobb, Tedra Cobb Associates. Budgeting Skills - Budgeting skills for library professionals. The discussion facilitator will be Dr. Eric Pellegrino, Ci-TEC and SUNY Canton. |
