Nominate Someone For The Annual Award For Excellence

Wouldn’t you like to see that library staff member get recognized for all the work he/she does on a daily basis? You know, that person who always goes a little above and beyond, or always makes patrons and fellow co-workers feel like someone special?

Here is the opportunity to do just that. It is not too early to be thinking about who you would like to nominate to be recognized as the recipient of the Network’s 14th Annual Award for Excellence in Library Service.

You may nominate any staff member of any library for this award. To nominate someone, simply write a confidential letter describing how your nominee’s activities have contributed to excellence in library service, and send the letter to: Excellence Award, Northern New York Library Network, 6721 U.S. Highway 11. Potsdam, NY 13676.

The winner of the award will be announced at the Network’s annual meeting in Lake Placid on May 27, 2004. Letters should be received in the Network office by May 3.

February 5 - "Introduction to PowerPoint" will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the NNYLN in Potsdam. The fee is $15.00 for library staff and $59.95 for all others. Lunch is included on-site.

February 6 - "Realities of Digital Reference: Challenges, Tools, and Opportunities Satellite-Delivered Teleconferences" will be held from noon - 2:00 p.m. at the NNYLN in Potsdam, and at Penfield Library at SUNY Oswego. There is no fee to attend.

February 6 - The NNYLN Advocacy Committee will meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Network office.

February 10 - "Excel: Formulas, Formulas, Formulas" will be held from 9:00 a.m. - noon at the NNYLN in Potsdam. The fee is $10 for library staff and $29.95 for all others.

February 10 - "Excel: Analyzing Data" will be held from 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the NNYLN in Potsdam. The fee is $10 for library staff and $29.95 for all others.

February 16 - The Network office will be closed in observance of President’s Day.

February 24 - "Enhanced Web Site Design" will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the NNYLN in Potsdam. The fee is $15 for library staff and $59.95 for all others. Lunch is included on-site.

February 27 - "Punch Up Your PowerPoint Presentation" will be held from 9:00 a.m. - noon at the NNYLN in Potsdam. The fee is $10.00 for library staff and $29.95 for all others.

February 27 - "Dazzle Them With PowerPoint Brilliance" will be held from 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the NNYLN in Potsdam. The fee is $10 for library staff and $29.95 for all others.

Price Break : Take the morning and afternoon sections of a course offered the same day and save. For library staff, pay $15.00 for the whole day, and for all others pay $49.95 for the whole day. (Lunch is NOT included.)
