NNYLN Website Now Has Site Index

The staff at the Northern New York Library Network continues to work at providing better and more convenient services to its members, and is pleased to announce the addition of a Site Index link on its home page at www.nnyln.org.

Some visitors to the site may know what they would like to find, but have trouble locating it within the site. This new link will hopefully alleviate that problem.

If, for example, you need to find information on the Network's Committees, Plan of Service, Press Releases, or would like to read through a Timeline of Events since the inception of Network 38 years ago, simply click on the "Site Index" link, and then find your topic listed in alphabetical order.

  • In a stunning development, Amazon.com is now providing full-text searching of 33 million pages from 120,000 books they have for sale.

Their "search inside the book" feature, which is the default search, displays scanned images of pages containing your search terms along with the previous and following two pages. The feature is restricted to registered users of Amazon, so create an account if you don't already have one.

  • Google.com has added a new feature called "define" which returns word or phrase definitions from the web.

Enter define: and the word(s) you want defined. The search "define: library" returns the expected definitions including some unexpected ones, for example, "An unordered collection of clones."
