Training On OCLC Connexion To Be HeldThe Northern New York Library Network will provide local training in Connexion on October 23. Training will be held at the Network office in Potsdam. The instructor will be Mary Edgerton of NYLINK. The OCLC Connexion Browser provides access to cataloging in WorldCat via a web browser interface. This hands-on class introduces using Connexion to perform most functions found in OCLC's various cataloging services, plus functions unique to this interface, such as automated harvesting of metadata for Internet resources and controlling authorized headings. At the end of this workshop you will be able to: Search WorldCat for bibliographic records, search the OCLC Authority File, edit records, create new records, use the Connexion save file, link headings to the Authority File, update holdings/produce catalog cards, export records, print labels. Who Should Attend: Anyone who wishes to perform OCLC cataloging using a web browser. Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of OCLC Cataloging functions . Drexel University Offers On-line MS DegreeThe NNY Library Network has added another college to its list of institutions where on- line MLS degrees may be earned. Drexel University offers a Masters in Science (Library and Information Science) degree that is ALA accredited. Their on-line degree is a 60-credit hour program.
