Get Ready For The Annual MeetingThe 38th Annual Meeting of the Northern New York Library Network will be held on Thursday, May 22, at the Riveredge Resort, Alexandria Bay, NY. This year’s program will include a meeting of the Board of Trustees, the announcement of the recipient of the 13th Annual Award for Excellence in Library Service, a stimulating schedule of discussion group topics, and a luncheon speaker from "The HUMOR Project." The agenda for the day will be: 9:30 - Coffee and Registration; 10:00 - Discussion Groups (See below)/Board of Trustees Meeting; 11:30 - 38th Annual Meeting; 12:00 - Lunch; 12:45 - HUMOR Project speaker Jim Snack will show us how to manage change in our lives and organizations with humor and creativity though the program "The Magic of Change." The HUMOR Project, Inc. is the first organization in the world to focus full-time on the positive power of humor. Its mission is to make a difference by being a unique, pioneering, and cutting-edge organization that touches the lives of individuals, organizations, and nations. It seeks to help people get more smileage out of their lives and jobs by applying the practical, positive power of humor and creativity. The Annual Meeting will include opportunities for people with common interests to gather for discussion of issues relating to providing library services. This year’s three discussion themes span a wide variety of library issues. The Handheld Librarian - Join this group for a look at the features and uses of PDA’s (Personal Digital Assistants). The discussion facilitator will be Jim Crowley, Crowley Computers. The Patriot Act - What does the Patriot Act mean for our civil liberties? The discussion facilitator will be Dr. Steve Horwitz, St. Lawrence University. Volunteer Programs - Learn how to design and manage volunteer programs in libraries and other organizations. The discussion facilitator will be Katie DeFazio, Documentary Heritage Program Consultant. |
