NNYLN Press Releases Available On-LineIf you think you missed an article in your local newspaper issued by the NNY Library Network, or wish you had saved a copy of a story, you can now find the original on the Network’s website. The "Publications" link on the website found at www.nnyln.org now has a "Press Releases" section. This new addition includes all Network related releases that have been issued through our office to date in 2003. You will see three sections here, which make it easier to find a release that was issued in your particular region. The "Western Region" typically covers stories sent to the Daily Courier-Observer, Watertown Daily Times, North Country This Week, or Paladium Times. The "Eastern Region" typically covers stories sent to the Press Republican, Malone Telegram or Adirondack Daily Enterprise. The "All Regions" section is for releases that were issued to all the newspapers. Be sure to check out the Network’s press release on National Library Week 2003.
State-Wide Workshop Is Being Held In AugustThe New York 3Rs Association is sponsoring a state-wide Continuing Education program in August, 2003. NY 3Rs has contracted with the Association of Research Libraries to offer the highly popular workshop "Leading Change" in two different locations in the state. Workshop dates will be August 4-5 in the METRO area and August 7-8 in Syracuse. This is a 2-day workshop. A brief description follows: Navigating turbulent change, whether carefully planned or suddenly imposed by external forces, is a constant feature of library management today. While exploring classic theoretical models as well as practical skills, participants gain insight into their own responses to change and a stimulating view of change as opportunity. Competencies gained or enhanced by this institute include: (a) ability to create an environment for risk taking; (b) ability to enlist the support of key stakeholders during change efforts; and (c) knowledge and understanding of diverse responses to change. Further information will be forthcoming as the details are worked out. The dates are confirmed, so if you are interested in attending please mark it on your calendar.
