Subject Index Is Added

A Subject Index has been added to the web-based version of the Directory of Archival and Historical Document Collections, which may be found at www.nnyln.org/Archives_Contents.html

The newest index breaks the subjects found in the entries into the following categories:

  • Artifacts, Boats, Books
  • Cemetery Records, Census, Church Records, Clothing
  • Early Settlers, Furniture/Houseware, Genealogical Files
  • History (county, local, state), Hospital Information, Letters/Manuscripts, Maps, Military/Veteran Information, Mining
  • Native American Information, Newsletters, Newspapers
  • Olympics, Pictures/Paintings, Printed Material
  • School Records, Scientific Information, Scrapbooks, Tapes, Town/Village Records, Vital Statistics

Annual Award for Excellence

It is not too early to be thinking about who you would like to nominate to be recognized as the recipient of the Network’s 13th Annual Award for Excellence in Library Service.

You may nominate any staff member of any library for this award. To nominate someone, simply write a confidential letter describing how your nominee’s activities have contributed to excellence in library service, and send the letter to: Excellence Award, Northern New York Library Network, 6721 U.S. Highway 11. Potsdam, NY 13676.

The winner of the award will be announced at the Network’s annual meeting in May. Letters should be received in the Network office by April 21.
