NNY Newspaper Archives Are Now Available On-Line

The Northern New York Library Network is pleased to offer area libraries increased access to on-line archives of regional newspapers.

We have purchased a subscription to the archives of the Watertown Daily Times. Access is limited to in-library use only and is based on your IP address. The IP addresses that you have submitted to us for the state-wide databases project will work with the Times archives as well. We have a limit of 500 articles retrieved per month for all libraries, so please be judicious in what you and your patrons use.

The archives include locally written stories appearing in the Watertown Daily Times. It does not include photographs or other illustrative matter - those would have to be retrieved from microfilm copies. There seems to be an approximate one-week delay before the current issue appears in the archives.

Along with the subscription to the Times comes access to the Albany Times Union and the Syracuse Post-Standard archives, which provide coverage of significant parts of our service area.

Following are the dates of coverage and the URLs for selected area newspaper archives:

Contact NNYLN if you have difficulties accessing these archives from your library.

The following area newspapers offer free access to their archives:

You may find direct access to all of these newspaper links by going to www.icepac.net and clicking on "NY Newspapers." The ICEPAC link is also accessible through the Library Network’s home page, found at www.nnyln.org
