Updated Plan Of Development ApprovedThe updated Plan of Development for the Northern New York Library Network was approved by the Network’s Board of Directors at its meeting on December 5. The Plan was revised after a review of members’ input from the Network’s recent membership survey, feedback from Continuing Education program evaluations, examination of the status of current Network programs and projects, discussions and analysis concerning regional, state and national trends, and an open comment period that provided members the opportunity to suggest further revisions to the plan. In addition to its many on-going programs, the Plan includes several new initiatives, including investigating local upgrades to NOVEL databases, exploring virtual/digital reference and shared e-journal inventory control, assisting in remote authentication projects and portals, determining the need for a regional digitization plan and initiation of selected digitization projects, assisting in providing aggregated access to regional newspapers, continuation of a compact disc version of the regional bibliographic data base, assessing the need for regionally accessible MLS courses, and working with members to determine formal training possibilities for support staff The Network’s Planning Committee consists Jeff Garvey, Samaritan Medical Center; Carla Hendrix, SUNY Plattsburgh; Pat Musante, Potsdam Public Library; Allison Wheeler, St. Lawrence-Lewis School Library System; Bart Harloe, St. Lawrence University; Lynne Matott, Gouverneur Correctional Facility; Natalia Stahl, Clarkson University and Network Board President; Joe Swinyer, DHP Consulant; and Tom Blauvelt, Bridget Doyle, John Hammond, Network staff. |
