SUNY Potsdam Libraries seek a Cataloging and Collection Development Librarian. Responsibilities: As a member of the Collection Development Committee led by the Collection Development Coordinator, s/he will share responsibilities for managing the collection through such activities as: updating the collection development policies, working with departmental and library faculty to select and de-select materials, assessing collections and collection management policies and procedures. As a member of the Technical Services team, s/he will, under the leadership of the Tech Services Team leaders, participate in planning and policy development for cataloging, support the cataloging activities of clerical staff, and engage in specialized cataloging as needed. In addition, all library faculty participate in providing reference service, including some evening and weekend hours. Qualifications: Required: ALA-accredited Master's degree in library or information science; knowledge of AACR2, MARC tagging, LC authorities and LC classification; effective oral and written communication skills; and strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications: Affinity for new technologies; experience with cataloging systems and software; experience cataloging electronic resources; experience or course work in collection development and management; and reference experience. Salary and rank: Mid 30's, Senior Assistant Librarian. This is a tenure-track, 12-month academic faculty position. Criteria for continuing appointment (tenure), established by the SUNY Board of Trustees, include: teaching effectiveness, mastery of subject matter, continuing growth, university service, and scholarly activity. SUNY Canton Southworth Library is seeking a Part-Time Librarian. Description of Duties: Part-time Librarian position available to provide reference services and bibliographic instruction to students, supervision of student workers and assist in processing collection and inter-library loan materials. Schedule includes a minimum of one evening per week and Sunday rotation with other librarians. 20-25 hours per week, mid-January through June 2003. Qualifications: Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) required; experience in academic libraries desirable. Salary Range: $8-9K; commensurate with experience.
