ICICILL Goes Public

ICICILL, the Northern New York Library Network’s web based resource-sharing system, is now ready for direct access by library users.

Libraries that wish to allow patron-initiated, but mediated, interlibrary loan can do so by providing their patrons with the new public access URL for ICICILL, icepac2.library.net

All patrons who wish to use the service must register on-line and be authenticated by their home libraries before making their first requests. Library staff will still review all interlibrary loan requests before they are transmitted through the ICICILL system. Participating libraries will find that they will be able to communicate the status of interlibrary loan requests and send overdue notices to patrons via e-mail.

Libraries interested in offering this service should contact the Northern New York Library Network office or their system headquarters.

In addition, advanced training in the use of ICICILL is now available. Training features information on how to cancel requests, over dues, manual requests, pull slips, patron registration, patron notifications, and patron-initiated requests. To request training, contact Tom Blauvelt at the Network office or contact your library’s system headquarters.
