Send In Nominations For Librarianship Award

You don't need a medium to find a spirit -- that is a nominee for the ASLS "Spirit of Librarianship" award.

Each year, ASLS presents the Award to a section member who clearly exemplifies the spirit that academic and special librarians bring to our profession. A "spirit" could be "an angel," or maybe a "guardian angel." Whoever he or she is, we know there are "ministering spirits" out there who deserve to be called a "patron saint" for their work for academic and special libraries which was above and beyond the call of duty.

Last year's winner was Jean Sheviak, from The Capital District Library Council in Albany.

This year the Spirit of Librarianship award will be cosponsored by the New York 3Rs -- the Reference and Research Resources Councils, in honor of the contributions of all of New York's academic and special librarians.

To nominate someone, send a one-page nominating letter and include brief biographical information on the nominee, explaining why you believe this person exemplifies the "spirit" of ASLS librarianship. Nominations are due by Friday, August 2, 2002. Post or email nominations to:
