Steve Bolton, North Country Library System; Mary Brown, Clinton-Essex-Franklin Library System; and Donna Hanus, Franklin-Essex-Hamilton School Library System will be leaving the board, and we appreciate their years of service.

This year’s Nominating Committee is soliciting suggestions for nominations for these seats, which are designated to be from public or school library systems.

If you have suggestions for individuals you feel would be good representatives for libraries and advocates for the community, please send names by April 15, 2002 to:

Nominating Committee, Northern New York Library Network, 6721 US HWY 11, Potsdam, NY 13676.

Tape Of Video Conference Is Available

A videotape copy of Soaring to Excellence 2002, part III "Whatever Happened to Carbon Paper?: A Look Toward the Future for Librarians, Library Assistants and the Printed Word" is now available on loan from the Network office. This is the last in the Soaring to Excellence 2002 three-part series.

This session addresses such questions as:

  • What does the future hold for libraries and the printed word?
  • In an electronic age, what will happen to reading and literacy?
  • Are libraries becoming anachronistic?
  • How must libraries and library workers redefine themselves in this age of technology?
  • As we try to "fit in" with technology, where do library workers, LTA's, and librarians fit in?

Soaring to Excellence is a series of three teleconferences each year, which provide information and training to library support staff nationwide. These teleconferences are broadcast from the television studios of College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

The tape is available for a one-month loan period. To borrow this tape, please call the Network office at 315-265-1119 (local) or 1-877-833-1674 (toll free).
