ICICILL New Module’s NameThe term ICICILL (pronounced icicle) won the Northern New York Library Network’s contest for naming the new ICEPAC ILL module. The suggestion was submitted by Donna Hanus of the Franklin-Essex-Hamilton School Library System, and also by Thomas Blauvelt of the NNYLN. The Network’s new Interlibrary Loan module is a full-featured web-based interlibrary loan management system. It allows libraries to make requests to other Northern New York libraries and to track the status of those requests at any time. Library staff are now being trained on the new module. ICICILL will replace the HOBO email system which has been in use for nearly fifteen years. The transition to the new system is scheduled to be completed by June of this year. The Network asked for suggestions for the new module’s name throughout the month of January, and over 30 suggestions were submitted for review. The winning name was selected by representatives of the ICEPAC Implementation Team. For more information about ICICILL, contact the Network office at 315-265-1119, or toll- free at 877-833-1674. The 2002 edition of NORPAC is scheduled to be available by the end of March. NORPAC is the Network’s CD-ROM union catalog. NORPAC provides interlibrary loan capabilities in those institutions where full-time Internet access is not available. |
