Review Of The Board

The Northern New York Library Network Board of Trustees met on Jan. 17, 2002 at the Network’s office.

  • The Board reviewed and approved the Automation Committee’s November 13, 2001 meeting minutes and the proposed budget for the year 2002.

  • The Director noted that Group Access Capability (GAC) is being opened to new enrollees. The Board also discussed the bundled resource-sharing package ICEPAC, ICEPAC/ILL & NORPAC.

  • Preliminary ICEPAC/ILL training was to be completed by Jan. 18 in Watertown, Plattsburgh and Potsdam. Initially, the ILL module for ICEPAC is being offered on a pilot basis to 24 libraries. Additional training will be scheduled.

  • Docu-Tek, the e-reserve system, has been implemented at Clinton Community College, SUNY Plattsburgh and SUNY Canton with the Network’s assistance. Three more academic libraries, SUNY Oswego, Clarkson University and St Lawrence University, are expected to be up and running later this year.

  • "In the Face of Disaster," a self-planning manual designed to aid libraries, archives and museums in disaster prevention, response, and recovery is currently being updated.

  • After a four year hiatus the E.J. Noble Hospital of Gouverneur has requested library circuit rider services through the Hospital Library Program.

  • The Board received and approved the audit report of the Network’s finances for the period of July 1, 2000 - June 30, 2001.

  • The Board received the report of the Northern New York Resources Corporation, the Network’s supporting organization which is investing the proceeds from the sale of NorthNet Internet Services, Inc. A professional financial advisor has been hired and a long-term investment strategy is being implemented.

  • The Board reviewed the annual Status Report concerning the Network’s Plan of Development.
