Soaring To Excellence Series Continues

The Network is presenting the teleconference series Soaring To Excellence 2002.

Soaring to Excellence is a series of three teleconferences, which provide information and training to library support staff nationwide. These teleconferences are broadcast from the television studios of the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois to the Network office at 6721 U. S. Highway 11, Potsdam, NY.

This year, Soaring to Excellence includes three sessions, the first session was held on November 16, 2001.

Bringing Order to the Chaos: Using Search Engines Efficiently is the second workshop in the series and will be held January 18, 2002. The session will begin at noon in the Conference Room of the Network office on Route 11.

The exquisitely dynamic nature of the World Wide Web demands that even the most clever of searchers continuously renew their strategies and refresh their thinking. Knowing how to dig deeply in the right places is not a skill learned easily or maintained without continual effort.

What are search engines? How and what do they search? How do we use them effectively and efficiently? What are specialty search engines and how do they work? How do we search the invisible Web? What is the future of searching with search engines?

Get ready for a content-packed program, which will explore these and other questions in this ever-changing area. This program will be accompanied by an interactive Web site that will allow students to test themselves and practice new found skills.

There is no charge to attend the teleconference, but please register by phone, email or fax.

Because of the timing of the teleconference, please feel free to bring a lunch, and the Network will provide beverages.
