Network’s Plan Of Service ApprovedThe new Plan of Service for the NNYLN was formally approved by the State Education Department on October 4. This plan was developed by the Network’s membership through a lengthy process that included professionally facilitated meetings, two sets of surveys, and extensive staff and committee work. It is intended to serve as the Network’s business and service plan for the period of 2001-2006. Highlights of the Plan include strategic goals for electronic and bibliographic access, resource sharing, cooperative activities, conservation and preservation, continuing education, public and member awareness, and administrative and support services. The Plan was developed in several stages, beginning with written surveys that solicited all members for their assessments of Network programs and services. The surveys also asked for areas where the Network could enhance services. Special Network meetings were then scheduled to focus upon the planning process and for committee input to occur. Specialized focus groups were designed and implemented for member library directors. Also, the draft Plan of Service was delivered to every Network member and a comment period provided for further input. The Plan contains specific measurable action items as activities. Network committees and staff are designated as those responsible for completing those activities within the specific timeframe stated in the Plan. The Network will continue to assess member satisfaction through the use of its biannual survey, supplemented with assessments at Continuing Education events and committee meetings. The Network would like to thank all who participated in this process for their excellent input, ideas, and willingness to contribute to pulling all this together. |
