2001 Interlibrary Loan Workshop Date Is Changed

The Annual Interlibrary Loan Workshop, originally scheduled for October 18, has been changed to November 1.

The location will remain the same, the Northern New York Library Network’s office on Route 11 between Canton and Potsdam.

The subject of this year’s Interlibrary Loan Workshop will be the new ICEPAC automated interlibrary loan system which is being provided by the Network to all its member libraries, and to the members of the region’s school and public library systems.

The new system will provide every library with the means to search for, send and receive interlibrary loans. It will keep statistics and generate reports, and will provide status reports for requests. It will allow libraries to set a lending "string," so if a library is unable to fill your request within a specified time frame, the request will automatically be forwarded to the next lending library identified in your "string."

The system will be compatible with interlibrary loan manager products such as OCLC’s ILLIAD.

This year’s Annual Interlibrary Loan Workshop will provide you with your first opportunity to see this system.

Representatives of the vendor, The Library Corporation, will demonstrate the system. You will learn how it works, what its features are and how to use them, and have an opportunity to ask questions.

You can register after you have received a snail mail flyer, or you may do so at any time by calling (315) 265-1119 or emailing cont-ed@northnet.org. There is a $10 fee.
