Data Technician Position Available

There is a full-time job opening for a Data Technician in the Interlibrary Loan Department at the North Country Library System in Watertown. The Data Technician uses a computerized database and interlibrary loan system to fill requests for library materials from 64 member libraries and the library system.

The position involves retrieving and editing computer files received in the department, searching the database for materials, merging requests into the database, working closely with Information Technology staff to keep the database efficient, sending electronic messages to member libraries as needed, preparing and maintaining reports, and handling telephone calls into the department at all times.

Requirements: type a minimum of 50 wpm, ability to pay close attention to detail, strong organizational skills, good command of the English language (written and spoken), and willingness to learn Microsoft Word and Excel software.

Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Annual Salary: $12,596 - $13,226, depending upon skills and experience. Benefits: health care plan, sick leave, annual leave, and holidays with pay.
