Mark Your Calendar To Take Part In A Continuing Education WorkshopSept. 12, 2001 – Microsoft Publisher 2000 will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Council Office in Potsdam. The presenter will be James Crowley of Crowley Computers. This class will be hands-on in a computer lab, and is limited to 20 participants. There is a $10 fee. Sept. 18, 2001 – Copyright in the Electronic Age will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Council Office in Potsdam. The presenter will be Laura Gasaway, director of the Law Library and professor of law at the University of North Carolina. The course covers the Copyright Revision Act of 1976, electronic issues, audio visual and other nonprint works and damages. There is a $10 fee. Sept. 20, 2001 – Beginner’s Internet will be held from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the North Country Library System in Watertown. The presenter is Ray Connolly. This workshop is intended for DHP participants and is an introduction to using the Internet for research. There is no fee, but please register in advance. Sept. 24, 2001 – Beginner’s Internet will be held from 9:00 a.m. to noon at SUNY Plattsburgh. (Descriptive information is the same as the above listing.) Sept. 29, 2001 – DHP Clinton/Essex counties fall Regional Roundtable will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Ticonderoga Historical Society. The topic will be “Past Perfect – An Off the Shelf Database Software Designed for Collection Management.” There is no fee. Oct. 4, 2001 – Scrapbooks/Albums – A Love-Hate Relationship will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Lake Placid Hilton Inn. The presenters will be Deborah Wender and Susan Wrynn from the Northeast Document Conservation Center. The discussion will include the advantage and pitfalls of collecting and caring for scrapbooks and albums in historical archival and other special collections. There is a $10 fee. Oct. 6, 2001 – DHP St. Lawrence/Franklin counties fall Regional Roundtable will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Town of Westville Town Hall. The topic will be “High and Low Tech Ways To Make Collections Accessible.” There is no fee. Oct. 11, 2001 – ILLiad Training will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Council Office in Potsdam. The presenter will be Jonathan Penn from NYLINK. This is a hands-on training for the staff of libraries using the ILLiad Interlibrary Loan Manager software. There is no fee. Oct. 18, 2001 – Annual Interlibrary Loan Workshop: ICEPAC ILL will be held from 9:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Council Office in Potsdam. There will be a demonstration of Library Request, the new ICEPAC interlibrary loan system. There is a $10 fee.
