Continuing Education Add-Ons

The Council continues to add to the list of Continuing Education events we have scheduled for you for this year.

In addition to the workshops listed in the booklet published in March of this year, the following workshops will be offered:

  • Grant Writing: Basic Elements of a Grant Proposal, July 23, Saranac Lake; July 24, Watertown. This half-day workshop will outline the basics needed to prepare a successful grant proposal, and will discuss some the of research methods for finding sources of grant funds.

  • Internet Access to New York’s Historical Records, August 3, North Country Reference & Research Resources Council Office, Canton. This will be a hands-on workshop where students will have a chance to explore web sites relating to New York’s historical records under the direction of instructors who have investigated and can recommend these sources.

  • Care and Preservation of Scrapbooks, October 4, Lake Placid. This one-day workshop will focus on: structures, types of materials, methods of attachment and their implications for preservation and conservation, and in-house, low-cost preservation approaches.

Another Continuing Education booklet covering the summer and fall offerings will be published in June.

More Items To Mark On Your Calendar

Be sure to take note of upcoming events and activities sponsored by the Council.

  • May 11 - The St. Lawrence/Franklin DHP Archives Roundtable will be held beginning at 10 a.m. at the Ogdensburg Public Library. The topic will be "Working With Volunteers."

  • May 14 - The workshop scheduled for Tuesday, May 15, "Online Database Update," has been rescheduled to May 14.

    Please Note: The change was made in order to make it possible for representatives from SilverPlatter to attend this meeting. It will be an excellent opportunity to address questions to SilverPlatter representatives as well as WALDO representatives.

  • May 19 - The Clinton/Essex DHP Archives Roundtable will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Council 2366 Building in Rouses Point.

  • May 24 - The Council Annual Meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Riveredge Resort in Alexandria Bay.

  • May 28 - The Council office will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.
