Look For Special Continuing Education 2001 Mailing

The Council's continuing education program will be featured in a mailing planned for March 2001.

This catalog will describe the education programs that will be offered through summer 2001, and will include a reservation checklist.

To give interested people a headstart, please note that the Council will offer a third session of its very popular and well attended workshop entitled Imaging: Scanners and Digital Cameras on March 19, 2001.

The workshop will be held at Clinton Community College and will be taught by James Crowley of Crowley Computers in Ogdensburg, NY.

Flyers will be sent in mid-February. This workshop has proved very popular in the past, so please reserve your space early.

We are also pleased to note that the workshop originally scheduled for last November, Copyright in the Digital Age, has been rescheduled for April 10, 2001.

The November date was cancelled due to illness, but has been rescheduled and will be held at Clarkson University.

Regional Catalog Updates

A new edition of NORPAC will be released in February 2001.

NORPAC is a regional catalog of library holdings on CD-ROM, and includes the holdings of school libraries, public libraries and special libraries throughout the region.

The disc holds approximately 850,000 records in all formats. Libraries who have ordered NORPAC should expect shipping at the end of February.

NORPAC is supported by the North Country Reference and Research Resources Council through the Regional Automation Program. Subscriptions to NORPAC cover one CD per year and unlimited access to the larger holdings universe of ICEPAC.

ICEPAC Is Updated

The region's ICEPAC database was updated in January 2001.

ICEPAC is a significantly larger and richer database than NORPAC, as it encompasses all the holdings of NORPAC plus those of the colleges in the region.

It is updated on a quarterly basis, making its information more dependable for the user. ICEPAC makes the collections of regional libraries available to users anywhere.

ICEPAC is a world wide web based, user friendly product with more than 1.5 million library records. It may be seen at www.icepac.net
