Paul Smith's College Working On New Library
The new Joan Weill Adirondack Library of Paul Smith's College is officially slated to open in spring, 2002. The ground-breaking ceremony for the $12 million, 42,500 square feet building was held in August 2000. The current Cubley Library holdings capacity is 58,000 volumes, and the new library capacity will be 120,000 volumes. The Capital Naming Opportunities of the library include the $1 million Adirondack Great Room, $750,000 Information Commons, $500,000 24-Hour Study Room and Café, $500,000 Adirondack Electronic Information Repository, $200, 000 Study Commons, $125,000 Center for Teaching and Technology, $100,000 Focus Group Rooms, $100,000 Archives and Historical Book Center, Individual Technology Seminar Rooms (four, ranging from $50,000 to $100,000), $100,000 Center for Accommodative Services, and $100,000 Service Desk. Additional Naming Opportunities include the $50,000 Multimedia Production Center, $15,000 Adirondack Outdoor Terrace, $15,000 Academic Support Center, Individual Study Rooms (ten, ranging from $10,000 to $25,000), $10, 000 Entrance to Display Case Area, and Library Furnishings (ranging from $500 to $5,000).
