Database Update There was a meeting on October 23, 2000 in Saranac Lake to provide information on the databases purchased by the Council, by New York State, and those databases purchased on a shared cost basis through consortial agreements. Library representatives attending the meeting had an opportunity to meet with representatives from the Council and from WALDO, (Westchester Academic Library Directors Organization), which provides the means for its member libraries to purchase databases at greatly reduced prices through consortial agreements. The Council is a member of WALDO and, therefore, able to offer its member libraries the chance to participate in this group purchase. Representatives provided an update of data base services and answered questions, including topics about billing, terms of service, etc. Libraries that would like more information about data base purchases should contact the Bridget Doyle at 315-386-4569 or email doyle@northnet.org By the Board The Board of Trustees of the North Country Reference & Research Resources Council met at the Council's office in Canton on October 26, 2000. Actions taken by the Board included: Approval of financial reports Review of a report from the Advocacy Committee Review of a report for the Regional Automation Committee Approval of the Regional Automation Plan for 2001 Review of a report from the Building Committee Award of the general construction contract to Multicraft Construction for the Council's new building The next meeting of the Board of Trustees will take place on December 7 at the Council office in Canton.
