The Council Breaks Ground For New BuildingConstruction recently began on the Council's new headquarters building and training center, to be located at 6721 US Highway 11 in the Town of Canton. The general contractor, Multicraft Construction, was awarded the construction contract by the Council's Board of Trustees on October 26. The project architect is Brooks Washburn. This project is intended to address the need for space for Council activities. Included in the construction plans are a meeting room designed to seat sixty persons, a twenty-seat training lab, technology for distance learning, and office space for Council staff. Other features of the building include an in-floor heating system, a Windows NT local area network, and a wireless network for use in the large meeting room. The Council anticipates moving into the new facility in late spring. Member libraries will be kept up to date on building progress through future newsletters and photographs.
