IT'S FALL, THE TIME TO TAKE A COURSE

The North Country Reference and Research Resources Council is continuing to offer on-line courses to library personnel, free of charge!

The courses are provided by MindLeaders (formerly known as DPEC), an interactive computer-based training group.

The courses are being supported by Federal Library Services and Technology Act funds, awarded to the New York State Library by the Federal Institution of Museum and Library Services.

The Council's grant for the program runs through December 2000, so there is still plenty of time to take advantage of this great offer.

If you have not yet taken a course, there are a few easy steps to follow to get going. We recommend you begin by taking a look at the course offerings by going to www.mindleaders.com and clicking on "Take a Course" then on "Catalog." You will be provided with all the courses, divided up into the following categories: End User Desktop Computing, End User Home and Small Business, End User Business Skills Development, Technical MCSE, Technical Web Development, Technical General, and Technical Main Frame.

Once you decide on the course or series you would like to begin with, contact Pam Ouimet at the Council office at pouimet@northnet.org to receive your UserID. Be sure and supply her with your name (including your middle initial), the library you work for and the system it is in, and the name of the course or series you would like to start with. You will create your own password, which is known only to you.

If you previously signed up for a course and became too busy to continue on but now have the time, again, simply contact Pam Ouimet to get your ID updated and you can jump right back in.

Now that the summer is drawing to a close, we are hoping more of you will take advantage of this great opportunity, which is provided absolutely free of charge!
