PLAN OF SERVICE UPDATE
The Council's Planning Committee is continuing the process of updating the Council's Plan of Service.
A key element in this service is the analysis of the results of the Comprehensive Member Survey that took place earlier this year.
This survey yielded 85 completed assessments from librarians, administrators and support staff.
- 97% of the respondents rated the Council excellent or good in the area of resource sharing, and 87% judged this activity to be very important.
- 98% of the respondents rated the Council as excellent or good in the area of network access, and 97% judged this activity as very important.
- 98% of the respondents rated the Council excellent or good in the area of shared access projects, and 70% judged this activity to be very important.
- 95% of the respondents rated the Council excellent or good with regard to its Hospital Library Program, and 74% judged this activity to be very important.
- 96% of the respondents rated the Council excellent or good in the area of continuing education, and 74% judged this activity to be very important.
- 100% of the respondents rated the Council excellent or good in the area of publications and communications, and 43% judged this activity to be very important.
- 87% of the respondents rated the Council excellent or good in the area of conservation and preservation, and 39% judged this activity to be very important.
- 100% of the respondents gave the Council "Excellent" ratings in the areas of being relevant and responsive.
The planning process will continue through two focus groups to be conducted in September.
Results from these, from the survey, and from other sources such as the Automation Five Year Plan, will be used to compile a revised Plan of Service that will be submitted to the State Education Department before the year's end.
