The Latest In MindLeaders CoursesWe would like to remind Council members that the Mindleaders (DPEC) courses are still available for web-based technology instruction. In order to offer you an even better selection of material, some courses will be updated this month. Word 97: 1 Getting Started, 2 Formatting Documents, and 3 Using Productivity Tools, are being updated with Word 2000: Managing Documents, Working with Text, and Formatting Paragraphs. Excel 97: 1 Getting Started, 2 Modifying Worksheets, and 3 Using Excel Tools, are being updated with Excel 2000: Working with Cells, Working with Files, and Formatting Worksheets. Mindleaders has also been busy updating their browser capabilities. The company is focusing its efforts on the latest Internet Explorer 4/5.x and Netscape 4.x browser capabilities. The 3.0 versions are over three years old now and are in use by 1% of their Internet audience. Accordingly, since newer versions are free and readily available, MindLeaders is discontinuing its support of version 3.x and lower browsers as of Sept. 1, 2000. This change will allow MindLeaders to develop new courses faster since it can eliminate the need to adjust for the limitations of the 3.x browsers. If you currently view existing courses on 3.x browsers, they will continue to work. However, MindLeaders course installations after Sept. 1 and its Internet site will require you to have a version 4.0 or higher browser. If you have not yet taken advantage of an on-line course, or you are interested in continuing on, check out the latest course listings at mindleaders.com and go to "Course Listing." Once you have decided on the course you would like to take, please contact Pam Ouimet at pouimet@northnet.org to register. These courses are free to all library staff in the region. |
