ILL Field Day Class Proves Useful To Attendees

"Interlibrary Loan Field Day" was held Oct. 2, 2008 at the NNYLN. Over 20 people turned out for the day- long class. The morning portion of the program was delivered by SUNY Geneso Associate Library Director Cyril Oberlander (above left), who spoke on "From Rethinking to Reshaping Resource Sharing." The afternoon session was conducted by Tom Blauvelt of the NNYLN (above center), who discussed "Updates to ICEPAC/ICICILL;" and Lauren Pinsley of Nylink (above right) , who spoke about "WorldCat Local."

After each class at the NNYLN, participants are asked to fill out an anonymous evaluation form. The following comments were made about the "Interlibrary Loan Field Day" program:
  • "I knew next to nothing about ILL and found this presentation very informative and enlightening."

  • "Cyril always looks for new and different ways of exploring resource sharing."

  • There are "important issues to consider in changing ILL/resource delivery, and in making users more central."

  • "Mr. Oberlander’s presentation was very informative. It’s nice to be encouraged to think outside the profession."

  • "During the afternoon session we learned about printing, and I definitely enjoyed the last speaker because she gave a good presentation about the different search engines to use."

  • "ICICILL - good handouts. Good job Tom."

Materials discussed by the presenters may be found online .
