Send In Excellence Award Nominations

In 2000, the Council will present its 10th Annual award for Excellence in Library Service.

Any staff member of any library within the Council's service area is eligible to receive this award. Previous award recipients have included staff of academic, hospital, school, public or correctional facility libraries. The award presentation is traditionally made at the Council's Annual Meeting in May.

We encourage you to nominate someone you feel should be recognized for his/her outstanding service to libraries. To nominate a candidate for this award, you need only write a confidential letter outlining the reasons your nominee should be considered. Letters of nomination will be held in the strictest of confidence. The decision to present the award will be made by a panel of past winners.

In writing your letter, you should describe how your nominee's activities have contributed to the following:

  • Open access to information for all
  • The encouragement of reading and creation of inducements to greater use of library materials
  • The enhancement and expansion of library service to the community
  • The strengthening of the library's role and position in the community, whether that community is a town, a school, college or university, or a company, corporation or institution
  • Promotion of interlibrary cooperation and sharing

Your confidential letter of nomination should be sent to the address below by April 14, 2000.
