See How POLARIS May Assist You The Plattsburgh OnLine Archival Retrieval Indexing Service (POLARIS), available at www.plattsburgh.edu/acadvp/libinfo/newspaper_search/search.htm is the newest public service of Plattsburgh State University, Feinberg Library, and its Special Collections. This free, web-based search engine currently contains references to more than ten thousand magazine and newspaper articles, photographs, pamphlets, manuscript collections, maps, and other items dealing with the Adirondack/Lake Champlain region. As it is produced, the additional sixty thousand entries in their card catalog, plus current indexing, will be ongoing. While the materials indexed in POLARIS are limited to those held by Feinberg, in most cases they are not the only library holding an item. This means that users of many libraries will enjoy improved access to materials in their local collections. In addition, all those with an interest in our region can gain increased access to a wide array of information resources via Interlibrary Loan.
