New Photo Archive Database - AccuNet/AP

Beginning in January 2000 the North Country Reference and Research Resources Council will provide free access to AccuNet/AP, a photo archive database to all libraries in the region.

The Photo Archive is an electronic library containing the AP's current photos and a selection of pictures from their 50 million image print and negative library. It is accessible to schools K-12, colleges and universities and public libraries.

Libraries whose IP's are already listed with the Council (i.e., those libraries who have provided their IP's in order to get Wilson Omnifile access) will be automatically registered to use AccuNet/AP Photo Archive. Libraries not automatically registered should contact Bridget Doyle at the Council.

The AccuNet/AP Photo Archive requires Netscape Communicator 4.04 or better (which requires Windows 95 or NT for the PC), or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or better (PCs only).

You can get an advance look at this database at: http://ap.accuweather.com/apphoto/index2.htm AccuNet/AP is offered to North Country libraries at no charge.

Dialog@CARL The New York State Library has signed the contract, which will provide access to Dialog@CARL, and has started to activate the libraries that have already registered via the New York State Library website. In order to receive access to Dialog@CARL, remember that you must register at: http://www.nysl.nysed.gov/dialog.html There is no charge for this database.
