Council Committees: Join Up Now!

The North Country Reference & Research Resources Council depends on its committee structure to help provide guidance, planning and implementation of the Council's activities. Committees usually meet twice a year, and may include task forces appointed for single projects. Please take this opportunity to become involved in library and information services in the region - join a North Country Reference & Research Resources Cou ncil committee today.

Interlibrary Loan:
The Interlibrary Loan Committee is responsible for recommending policy and encouraging resource sharing relationships among libraries in the region. The committee is expected to have a roll in making recommendations for the interlibrary loan piece of ICEPAC, the web based catalog project.
Continuing Education:
The Continuing Education Committee is responsible for recommending the content of the Council's continuing education and workshop activities and calendar. The committee is also charged with carrying out a biannual assessment to ascertain the needs of library staff in the region.
Advocacy:
The Advocacy Committee plans activities each year to promote awareness among local and state officials concerning needs of area libraries.
Library Assistants:
The Library Assistants group is committed to providing opportunities for education, communication and staff development for support staff in area libraries.
Conservation/Preservation:
The Conservation/Preservation Committee is responsible for recommending cooperative special collections projects including disaster preparedness and digitization initiatives.
Coordinated Collection Development /Shared Databases Committee:
This committee assists in coordinating subject collection development for the region's CCDA aid program. Also, it recommends initiatives for shared purchase of electronic databases such as UMI or FirstSearch.
Regional Automation:
The Regional Automation Committee is responsible for developing recommendations for the annual plan for automation activities. Smaller subsets of this committee are likely to be formed for special purposes such as development of the new five-year plan , or to work on the new web based regional catalog. The Board of Trustees appoints members of this committee for a three-year term. Checking this option means that your name will be submitted to the Board for their consideration when vacancies on this com mittee open.
