Professional Development ProgramThe Professional Development program assists the staff of member libraries in their professional development. Financial aid from this program enables staff to attend conferences, seminars, workshops and other educational activities which are not available locally and for which funds might not otherwise be available. Applications may be made for a maximum of $500. All staff of libraries who are members of the North Country Reference & Research Resources Council are eligible to apply for assistance from this program. In the past, successful applicants have received help in attending national conferences, small seminars, and regional chapter meetings. Eligible events include conferences, seminars, workshops, graduate coursework in library and information science, and undergraduate coursework in a work-related field. Applications for funds will be accepted at any time. They will be reviewed and awards will be made on a bimonthly basis. Applications must be submitted in time to be considered and a response received before the event takes place. Applications will be reviewed six times per year. Review deadlines for applications will be the first working day of January, March, May, July, September and November. Applications should be postmarked by the last working day of the month preceding these review deadlines and must be submitted on an Application for Funds, Professional Development Program form provided by the Council. A copy of the program announcement, flyer, or course description is to be included if available. Applications may be obtained by calling the Council office at (315) 386-4569, or emailing a request to doyle@northnet.org You may also download a copy of the application and guidelines from the Council web page at www.nc3r.org and click on "Continuing Education." |
