Dialog@CARL Now AvailableDialog@CARL is now available through the EmpireLink project. Dialog@CARL joins the Gale Group's Health Reference Center-Academic database in the EmpireLink project, and is free to all libraries in New York State.Dialog@CARL - The Basic Collection, consists of some 300 commercial databases covering a wide range of subjects and including 115 newspapers. Sixty percent of the databases included are full text, with the remainder providing bibliographic citations. A full list of the databases included is available at: dialog.carl.org/list.html Access to Dialog@CARL is free to all libraries in New York, but you MUST register. Registration is done online at: www.nysl.nysed.gov/dialog.html Libraries should complete and submit the online registration. The URL that is to be used to access Dialog@CARL will be sent via e-mail in about three weeks. EmpireLink is a pilot project initiated by the New York State Library to provide the people of New York State with free access to full-text, online, commercial databases through their libraries. EmpireLink was launched in January 1999 and is projected to continue for three years. The online databases EmpireLink participants have access to are the Gale Group's Health Reference Center-Academic (HRC-Academic) database and the Carl Corporation's Dialog@Carl-Basic Collection database. Training for Dialog@CARL will not be held in locations easily accessible for most North Country libraries, but an online tutorial is available at: dialog.carl.org/overview.html Sign up now for your library's access to Dialog@CARL. |
